Job Description

Our client is a highly-regarded and UKAS accredited asbestos consultancy delivering expert asbestos analytical services to a nationwide client base. They currently seek the services of an experienced and hardworking Asbestos Lab Analyst based in and around the Glasgow area. The successful postholder will hold the P401 asbestos certificate and will have worked in a similar laboratory based role within the asbestos industry carrying out bulk analysis of asbestos samples. Consideration will be given to applications from Cumbermauld, Paisley, East Kilbride, Clydebank and the surrounding areas.

Qualifications & Experience:

Must hold the P401 asbestos qualification.
Holding the P402 asbestos qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
Must have valid and varied experience working within a laboratory/asbestos environment.
Previous experience in carrying out analysis on soil samples will be advantageous.
Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Must be competent in using the Microsoft Office Package.
Must be fully conversant of the Health & Safety procedures.

Key duties of the role:

Carrying out bulk analysis of asbestos materials.
Receiving and preparing asbestos bulk samples.
Maintaining and assisting quality control and data in an appropriate and accurate way.
Ensuring compliance with company quality control policies.
Ensuring that all analytical equipment is in line with relevant guidelines.
Ensuring that samples are stored appropriately or returned to the right place.
Liaising with clients and managers as and when required.
Addressing any issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
Ensuring compliance with the Health & Safety procedures.
Carrying out any other laboratory duties as and when required.

In general, the successful applicant will demonstrate an excellent work ethic and have good attention to detail with the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team.
