Our client a well-established, fast growing client based asbestos laboratory is currently seeking an experienced, competent Lead Asbestos Lab Analyst to join their laboratory/team in the Durham region. Applications from Darlington, Sunderland, Stockton-on-Tee and the surrounding areas will be considered.

Qualifications & Experience:

The individual must possess the P401 certificate.
Extensive experience working in this role in a laboratory/asbestos environment.
A good formal education is essential.
Holding a HND in Science would be beneficial.
Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Attention to detail.
Organisational and client facing skills required.
Must be IT literate.

Key Tasks:

Undertake the analysis on a wide range of materials for asbestos including bulk material, soils and waters.
Develop UKAS accredited quantification methods.
Assistance in the maintenance of QC and sample data in an accurate and ordered manner.
Maintenance, storage and labelling of stocks and supplies.
Ensuring all staff work in a professional and safe manner.
Laboratory areas and work surfaces to be kept clean and tidy at all times.
Assist staff in the performance of their duties if required.
Ensure samples are stored correctly and returned to the appropriate area after testing.
Comply with all the Health and Safety and ISO14001 requirements of your role.
Receiving and preparing various samples from site.
Generating accurate data in line with UKAS standards.
Ensuring that all analytical equipment used is kept clean and up to date.
Liaising with clients and managers.
Solving any issues arising in relation to the laboratory tests.
Making sure that the samples are stored appropriately.
Complying with the Health & Safety procedures.
Getting involved with any other laboratory duties as and when required.
