Job Description
Our client is a prominent and UKAS accredited asbestos consultancy known for providing expert advice and services throughout the UK. This company is now looking for an enthusiastic and committed Asbestos Lab Analyst/Manager based and around the Birmingham area. The ideal applicant will hold the P401 certification and will possess extensive laboratory experience carrying out and supervising asbestos sampling and analysis. Applications will also be considered from asbestos lab analysts who are looking to develop into a supervisor / management role. Consideration will be given to applications from Tamworth, Coventry, Stourbridge, Solihull
Qualifications & Experience:
The individual must have attained the P401 qualification, although additional qualification would be beneficial.
Must have good formal education.
Must come from a supervisory and management background.
Must have some experience in equipment validation, maintenance and calibration.
Must come from a strong technical, quality, audits, laboratory and management background.
Must have good communication skills both written and verbal.
Must be proficient in using the Microsoft Office.
Must have extensive experience working within this role, in a laboratory environment and within the asbestos parameter.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrying out asbestos sampling and analysis duties, checking for fibre content.
Overseeing the laboratory team and ensuring that they carry out the work effectively.
Overseeing reception and logging of samples.
Getting involved with continuous improvements within the department.
Monitoring of work carried out and maintaining stocks with regards to materials, etc.
Dealing with the UKAS – accreditation.
Liaising with clients with regards to samples from sites.
Controlling and managing internal Quality Control slide checks – ensuring that slides are read and forwarded and using the database system appropriately.
Carrying out audit checks.
Checking analytical reports for accuracy.
Ensuring that the quality systems are carried out in accordance with the company’s procedures and policies.
Building and maintaining a good rapport with the company’s mixed portfolio of clients.
Tending to staff and ensuring that they carry out the work effectively and within time line.
Ideally, the post-holder must be focused, flexible, have good attention to detail and must have the aptitude to run the department well.
